An ADHD Coach who gets it
Hi, I’m Shawn.
I’m an expert on living life with ADHD. As a person with executive functioning deficits, I’ve had to spend my life adapting to a world that seems set up to work against people like me. I know firsthand what it’s like to struggle with simple tasks like taking notes while also absorbing a lecture, doing arithmetic in my head, or keeping up in meetings at work.
I grew-up with untreated ADHD and poor executive functioning. I was the typical intelligent, but under-achieving kid. It always felt like I had to work twice as hard as my peers to keep up. I gradually figured out ways to get by, but I was never thriving. It wasn’t until after college and far into my professional career in the IT industry that I was able to learn more about my condition, break through the shame, and take charge of my life.
Understanding my limitations and how to work with them allowed me to become more effective in my own life and to start keeping up without so much stress. When I learned that EF skills can be taught and practiced, I began to actively study and evaluate strategies to overcome my deficits. I was surprised to find that many of my self-taught methods were actually recommended strategies for working around EF deficits. As an ADHD/EF coach I seek to share the knowledge I have personally gained and to help people like myself to reach their full potential.
